MN05 - THE MORAINIC CORRIDOR

This road crosses the whole morainic amphiteatre of the Garda Mantovano (the Mantuan part of the Garda) chiefly along secondary, low traffic roads. From Castiglione delle Stiviere, the city that inspired the birth of the International Red Cross, we walk through the green landscape of the morainic Mantuan hills. The delicate profiles of the hills are decorated by the shapes of the cypresses and by vineyards' that accompany travellers in their journeys across towns. The path goes through Solferino, the theatre of one of the most gruesome battles in history, Cavriana featuring an Archaeological Museum with findings from the Neolithic age to the Longobard age and Volta Mantovana, featuring the beautiful garden in Palazzo Gonzaga, up to the Mincio cycling track near Pozzolo.
