The Po cycling track
An enrapturing path, seemingly suspended over time: the river's silence rules supreme as countless rows of poplar trees reaching out to infinity and the flight of the herons accompany cycling tourists in their ride along the banks (mostly closed to any vehicular traffic) of Italy's longest river. The small rural towns provide shelter and accommodation to voyagers, while larger towns also offer momentous pages in Italian history and architecture. A voyage worth 5 days and 244 km, divided in short legs to give the voyagers enough time to visit the most important cities (rich in works of art) and natural reservations and to enjoy the tranquility of these places.
